[edit] Article Listing

This page displays all the articles that have been added to the site grouped by the category that was associated with it when it was added.

Each item in the article listing has attributes which indicate the following:

Published

[Published: Date (e.g. Mon 14th Jan 2008)]

This indicates when the article was originally published. This could be an earlier date to when the article was actually created. If no date is present following "Published:" then a date was not entered when the article was created and the article will display the date of its creation on the live site where it is listed.

Status

[Status: Status (e.g. LIVE) - Created at Time (e.g. 11:45) Date (e.g. Wed 9th Jan 2008), by User (e.g. GRD Admin)]

Status gives information on whether the article is live, deleted or expired as well when the article was last modified and by which user.

EDIT, X (Delete) and VIEW

[ EDIT | X ] or [VIEW]

These options allow users to edit or delete an active article or view the information of a deleted article.

The EDIT option allows all information about an article entry to be edited, including selecting a new document to be uploaded.

DELETE allows users with the correct user privileges to delete an article entry from the website. This will physically remove the attached file from the server however the entry details of the article will remain in the database for future reference.

VIEW allows users to view the entry details of an article that has been deleted. This is strictly read only information and cannot be edited.

[edit] New Article

[ New Article ]

This link is located above the list of the articles entered into the site. As the name suggests it allows the user to add a new article to the site.

Clicking on the “New Article” link will make a drop down menu appear containing a list of pre-defined (defined in database during the development phase of website) categories for articles to be associated with. Selecting one of the categories will take the user to the “Create Article” page which has a table of entry fields and options for the user to enter information into.

[edit] Create Article

This page allows users to enter the information for an article they wish to create. There are several input options, they are:

Article Title

This allows the user to define a descriptive title for the article which will display in the article listing as well as on the website rather than just displaying the physical file name of the file being uploaded.

Article site

This is option may be available with the Codrey CMS if there are multiple sites being managed from a single CMS. It allows the user to add an article to a specific site from a central place.

Summary text of article

If the site displays summary text for an article then the text entered into this text field will display with the title and link to the document within the site.

Article File

This is where the file to be uploaded is chosen. The user can either type in the path to the file manually or press the “Browse” button next to the text field to browser for the file on their computer and select it that way.

Publish Date

This series of drop down boxes allows the user to choose the date of when the article was originally published. If no date is selected then the date of which the article was created or last modified will display in the website.

Expiry Date

The expiry date allows the user to set a date for which the article should be reviewed. Upon this date the site administrator will be sent a notification via email to request they review the article to determine whether the article should be deleted or not.

Home Page Flag

This option gives the user the choice whether to allow the article to display on the home page (if articles are displayed on the home page) or just in the section of where the articles for that category are listed.
