[edit] Motive

Development of Codrey began in March 2005 after initial research found that existing open source content managament systems were not suitable for our needs. The specific needs were:

  • a user friendly, administrator view of the site structure, with direct functions to managed, edit, delete pages from this view.
  • a user approval system for content
  • user notifications for content changes
  • content versioning
  • multi site functionality

[edit] Codrey Name

The 'Codrey' name did not come about until late 2006, when after several projects using the application, we decided it needed a name.

The name 'Codrey' is short for the two companies that were originally involved in the development and design: Codex and Reynolds Technology. Note: both companies are no longer involved in the development of the project. Codex was closed down in mid 2007, and Reynolds shifted its services to other area's of IT.
